Web Site Designers

Creating your own Website vs. Having it Professionally Done by Web Site Designers

A website is necessary for anyone with a service based business. It’s what gets clients to you and what shows them what you have to offer for them. The question that most business owners face is whether or not they should create their own website or have it professionally done for them. Here’s some pros and cons to both:

Creating Your own-

Pros- Obviously, by creating your own site, you would be able to save some money for your business. There are a lot of easy to use software programs available to create your own websites for a price.

Cons- You may be able to build your site with the programs, but you may not be able to do regular maintenance to keep the site going. Should problems arise, you may not be able to fix them to get the site back up and running.

Having it Professionally Done-

Pros- Someone with experience in website building can create a site for your business that would peak a visitor’s interest rather than push them away. A bad looking website can annoy or distract your visitors, which would turn them off to your site; making you lose some potential business. They may offer ongoing website maintenance, so if any problems arise or if you need something updated, they can easily take care of that for you.

Cons- Outsourcing this kind of work can be costly to you. Some good website designers charge up to $50 an hour to have a site built. Ongoing maintenance can be costly as well.

Which is better?

Outsourcing your website designing would be the better choice if you had the money to do it. If you’re starting out and don’t quite have the money to budget for it, then creating your own would be okay to start with, but consider having it professionally done in the future when you can afford it. It does make the difference in gaining and keeping more clients.

Another option would be to barter your services with someone who does website design. Sometimes they’re willing to barter if you provide services they need for their own business, so it wouldn’t hurt to look into that.

The decision is of course yours, but this can help you decide which one fits your situation better. You know your business and what you can afford to do, so keep these things in mind when planning your website creation.
