Selling within a Niche on EBay Results in More Sales for Your Store
While it sure can be tempting to sell several different items on eBay in several different categories to make lots of money; it’s not likely to happen this way. One of the biggest keys in selling more items on eBay is to be a trusted seller with good feedback. Trust sells more than the amount of stuff you have.
A niche is when you sell a specific item instead of a broad range of items. For example, if you decided to sell some digital cameras, you want to choose a niche by selling a specific brand of cameras, like Kodak or Cannon.
When choosing a niche, you will want to decide what items you want to sell in your eBay listings. When you figure that out, you’ll research and find out what brands are popular and have good reviews on. Then check with some wholesalers and see what their prices are and what some of those items go for on eBay. If it looks like you could make a little profit from selling that item, then you can choose that for a niche.
Before you begin to sell those niche items, though, consider researching the item more to learn everything you can about it. You should know as much as possible about the item before you sell it, because some of the potential buyers will ask questions regarding it. If you can answer them with good quality answers, you will seem more like an expert in that niche.
When you’re considered in expert in a particular item, you become more trustworthy to the buyer and sales are more likely to be made from your listings vs. those of other eBay sellers selling the same items.
Increase your expert status by writing some reviews of that product. Good quality reviews show your knowledge of that item. Buyers are more apt to take what you have to say instead of others who are just selling the item.
Another way to gain some expert status and trustworthiness is by providing some guides related to that niche item. If you’re selling a certain brand of digital cameras, you could provide a guide on how to take the best pictures using that camera. Potential buyers will see the guides and gain interest in the item. Since you were the one that wrote the guide, you will be the person of choice to buy it from.
In order to build a successful eBay business, you should sell niche items instead of just random products. Trust is what you’re really going for to reach your business goals and selling within a niche will provide that for you.
